President Bola Tinubu is currently in discussion with the leadership of the Edo chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) at the State House in Abuja. The gathering includes the party’s 2024 gubernatorial candidate for the state, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and his running mate, Hon. Dennis Idahosa. The primary focus of the meeting is to address certain unresolved issues.
Although specific details of the agenda remain undisclosed, a source revealed that one resolution involves the withdrawer of protest litigation by the running mate, Idahosa, against Okpebholo’s candidature.
Among those prsent at the meeting, which is being held in the president’s office, are Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the APC; Adams Oshimhole, the senator representing Edo North Senatorial District; and Matthew Urhoghide, a former representative of Edo South in the Senate , among others.
“The primary election that eventually led to Okpebholo being selected as the candidate initially sparked controversy, as Ihadosa was initially declared the winner by the committee led by Governor Hope Uzodinma. However, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party deemed the first round of the primary inconclusive due to several irregularities.
