Kwara Commission Issues Guidelines to Political Parties Ahead of Council Polls

The Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC) has announced new policies for the upcoming council polls on September 21.

In a statement , Chairman Muhanmmed Baba Okanla emphasized that any political party that fails to involve KWASIEC in their primary election process will have their results invalidated.

The statement highlighted that this decision is part of the Commission’s ongoing efforts to ensure the integrity and transparency of the electoral process.
It stressed that the involvement of the state electoral commission is essential for maintaining public trust and upholding democratic principles.

”All political parties must involve the KWSIEC in their primary elections. This included notifying the body of the primary election dates, procedures, and any changes to the election process.”

”The Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission will supervise and monitor all primary elections to ensure they are conducted fairly and transparently. This includes the presence of official observing at voting sites and implementation of standardized election procedures.”

“Failure to comply with theses requirements will result in the primary election result being deemed invalid.”

The state electoral body declared that it would not recognize or accept any primary result from parties that Paul’s to comply with the policies.
