The Nigerian Government has summoned Ahmad Gumi, a controversial Islamic Cleric, to address his remarks regarding the activities of bandits in the country. Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and Orientation, revealed this during a press briefing at the State House in Abuja on Monday.
The Minister emphasized that the Islamic cleric is subject to the law, stating that the government finds it essential to request his presence for questioning. A few weeks earlier, Gumi had called on the Tinubu-led- government to collaborate with him in negotiating with bandits. He urged Tinubu not to replicate what he termed as the “mistake” committed by former President Muhammadu Buhari, who declined to engage in dialogue with bandits.
