The recent abductions in the Northern region have been ascribed by the Presidency to political forces within the northern region, orchestrating actions aimed at destabilising the nation under the stewardship of President Bola Tnubu. In a televised interview with TVC on sunday night, Presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale conveyed this attribution. In response to inquires regarding the timeline for President Tinubu’s government to address the upswing in mass abductions of school children observed in Kaduna and Sokoto last week, Mr. Ngelale indicated that substantial efforts have been invested in enhancing national security, yielding a state of relative stability in the South-East.
“Where we still have some challenges is in the North-Central,North-West and to a large extent in theNorth-East. There is still a lot of work to be done,” Mr Ngelale said. He added, ” I will say this: accross the North, we understand that some of the sub-regional geographical forces that are currently at the play are actively conspiring against the stability of the Nigerian nation.”
While the Presidential media aide refrained from explicitly identifying the “sub-regional geopolitical forces.” Mr. Ngelale disclosed that the U.S. government is actively collaborating with Nigerian authorities to facilitate the rescue of more than 280 school children who were abducted in Kaduna/
” It is worth nothing that the United States government has also pledged its assistance to ensure that there is a full return of all the school children who were kidnaped recently in Kaduna,” Mr Ngelale said.
He emphasized that our objective is to further enhance collaboration, not only within the region but also on an international scale. This is aimed at ensuring that individuals acting as regional actors conspiring against our nation are diligently pursued for justice and ultimately rendered inactive in the future. Mr. Njelale , in response to the kidnappings, denounced the incidents and called upon security agencies to take decisive measures in rescuing abducted schoolchildren and others affected.
