President Tinubu, in correspondence directed to Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, emphasized the imperative nature of the proposed action for facilitating the seamless execution of the scheme. The current legislation stands as one of the initial enactments following Mr. Tinubu’s assumption of office. Spearheaded by Femi Gbajabiamila, the President’s Chief of Staff during his tenure as Speaker, the bill aims to address challenges encountered in implementing the scheme, which has faced multiple postponements.Tw days ago, a senior government official announced the indefinite suspension of the student loan program.
Within the correspondence, Mr. Tinubu expressed that the new bill endeavors to tackles the issue of ; “challenges related to the management structure of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELF), applicants eligibility requirement, loan purpose, funding source and disbursement and repayment procedures.”
