Troops Seizes Stolen Crude Worth N637M, Apprehend 36 Suspects in Anti-Oil Theft Operation

According to a statement by Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Nigerian troops have conducted successful operations in the South-South region resulting in the recovery of stolen crude oil worth N637 million and arrest of 36 suspects involved in oil theft.

The troops seized a total of 672,350 litres of stolen crude oil and 90,530 litres of illegally refined diesel (AGO) in the Niger Delta area. Additionally, operations in the region led to the discovery and destruction of 51 dugout pits, 24 boats, 21 storage tanks, and four vehicles.

“In the SS, troops only denied the oil theft of the estimated sum of N637,710,310.00. Troops also arrested 36 perpetrators of oil theft. Troops in the Niger Delta area discovered and destroyed 51 dugout pits, 24 boats, 21 storage tanks and four vehicle. Other items recovered included 28 cooking ovens and 21 illegal refining sites.

” They also recovered 672,350 litres of stolen crude oil and 90,530 litres of illegally refined AGO, he stated.
