Nigerian Government Announces Minimum 25% Salary Increase for Workers

The Nigerian Federal Gyhas sanctioned a salary raise for civil servants.

The approved salary increment spans a range from 25% to 35% across the six remaining consolidated salary structures. This increment impacts various sectors, including the Consolidated public Servicd Salary Structure (CONPSS), the Consolidated Research and Allied Institutions Salary Structure (CONRAISS), the Consolidation Policy Salary Structure (CONPOSS), the Consolidated Paramilitary Salary Structure (CONPASS), the Consolidated Intelligence Community Salary Structure (CONICCS), and the Consolidated Armed Forces Salary Structure (CONAFSS).

Polytechnic and colleges of education experienced adjustment under two distinct consolidated salary structures: the Consolidated Polytechnics and College of Education Academic Staff salary Structure (CONPCASS) and the Consolidated Tertiary Educational institutions Salary Structure (CONTEDISS).

Additionally, the Health Sector saw enhancements through the implementation of two consolidated salary structures: the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) and the Consolidated Health Sector Salary Structure (CONHESS).

According to a statement issued by Emmanuel Njoku, the Head of press at the National Salaries, Income and Wages commission (NSIWC), these salary increases came into on January 1, 2024.

As outlined in the statement, the Federal Government additionally endorsed a pension adjustment ranging from 20% to 28% for pensioners enrolled in the Defined Benefits Scheme associated with the aforementioned six consolidated salary structures. This pension increase is set to take effect stating from January 1, 2024.
