During the 2024 May Day celebration in Abuja, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, reiterated the government’s unwavering dedication to upholding the welfare of Nigerian workers. Emphasizing that “the well-being of Nigerian workers is at the top of his agenda,” Wike, represented by the Head of Service of the FCT, Atango Udo Samuel, underscored the crucial role workers play in the nation’s development.
He highlighted the administration’s commitment to safeguarding workers’ rights and interests, recognizing their invaluable contributions to national progress.
”Workers are the backbone of our economy and it is our responsibility to provide them with the necessary support and resources to excel.”
“We are committed to creating a conducive work environment, improving working conditions, and enhancing the overall quality of life for all FCT workers.” Wike said.
To uphold this commitment, the Minister elucidated that the government has instituted the FCT Civil Service Commission. This initiative aims to foster transparency, accountability, and career advancement opportunities for employees within the FCT administration.
According to Wike, “The commission will ply a crucial role in ensuring that workers’ rights are respected and their hard work rewarded with opportunities for growth and development.”
He highlighted that the establishment of the FCT Civil Service Commission represents a noteworthy achievement in the government’s endeavor to revamp the civil service and uphold workers’ rights.
