Student Loan: Nigerian Government Approves 30,000 Applications, Announces Date for Second Phase

The Nigerian government announced that around 30,000 students have successfully applied for its loan scheme just seven days after the portal launched on May 24, 2024.

Akintunde Sawyerr, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, provided this update in Abuja on Thursday.

Sawyerr explained that the 30,000 students who have applied are currently undergoing approval evaluation.

He also revealed that applicants for the state higher institutions to apply for the loan will open on June 25, 2024.

According to Sawyerr, the scheme not only provides financial assistance to students but also aims to equip youths with employment skills.

He announced that NELFUND will launch comprehensive skills acquisition programs in various vocational and technical fields.
