A Federal High Court in Abuja has reinstated Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP).
In its ruling on Tuesday, the court affirmed the validity of the 2024 Labour Party nay convention held in Nnewi, which re-elected Abure, asserting that the event complied with all applicable Nigerians laws.
This information was conveyed in a statement from the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh.
Justice Emeka Nwite, in delivering the judgement, directed the Indendent National Electoral Commission (INE ) to officially recognize and accord all privileges to the Labour Party’s National Working Committee under Abure’s leadership.
However, INEC had previously stated that it did not recognize Abute as the National Chairman, arguing that the March 2024 convention that re-elected him was in violation of both the Nigerian Constitution and the Electoral Act.
