After spending approximately 10 days in captivity, the Kwara State Police Command successfully rescued Mr. PengChao Zhang, a Chinese national, from his kidnappers in a forest within the state. Zhang, who also goes by the name Wlliams Kaka, was liberated on Tuesday following extensive efforts by the Police Tactical team and Vigilante through searches and investigations in the forest.
He had been taken by a gang of six armed individuals from Cherish Gust House in Eyenkorin, situated on the outskirts of Ilorin, the capital of Kwars State. Prior to his abduction, Zhang had been staying at the guest house for over two months, conducting business transactions.
The Kwara State Police Command officially verified the liberation of the foreign national in a statement issued on Wednesday, signed by the State’s Police Public Relations Officer, Ejire-Adeyemi Toun.
“The Kwara State Police Command is pleased to announce a significant breakthrough in the recent kidnapping incident that occurred in Eiyenkorin, Ilorin, Kwara State. On the 10th of March, 2024, six armed men forcefully abducted Mr PengChao Zhang (also known as William Kaka among his business associates), a Chinese national who lodged at Cherish Gust House Eiyenkorin, Ilorin, sparking concerns and fear within the community.
“The command is pleased to confirm that the victim has been reunited with his family unharmed. This achievement underscores the unwavering commitment of the Kwara State Police Command to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and visitors within the state.
