According to Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the suspect’s medical records from a psychiatric facility corroborated her condition. The unfortunate incident occurred at the victim’s resident, a three-bedroom bungalow situated along Superjet Road, Premier Estate, off Oda Road, Akure South Local Council Area. The deceased’s body was discovered several days after the stabbing. The PPRO further revealed that the apprehended suspect has been securely detained at a police medical facility to prevent harm to herself and others.
She said;
“The police took the remains to the mortuary, and during clean-up, a mark of violence (stabbing) was observed, while a knife was found at the scene of the crime. Preliminary investigation revealed the deceased lived with her niece, Omowunmi Adeuloju, aged 17 years, who suddenly disappeared and locked the door.
“The stench oozing out of the house attracted the residents, who notified the deceased sister. The sister, on arrival, peered through widow and saw the body on the floor; hence, the police were informed. The corpse, in a decomposing state, was removed for prevention.”
