Pedestrian Dies After Being Fatally Struck by 22-Year-Old Motorist in Lagos


The spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, recently disclosed a tragic incident in which a woman lost her life after being struck by a 22-year-old driver. According to Hundeyin’s statement, the unfortunate event unfolded, highlighting the severity of road safety concerns in the region.

In a statement posted on his official social media handle today, March 24, 2024, SP Benjamin Hundeyin provided further details regarding the incident. According to Hundeyin, the tragic event occurred as the woman, accompanied by her three children, was engaged in vending groundnuts along the roadside. It was during this activity that they were unexpectedly struck by the driver, who reportedly lost control of the vehicle. The inclusion of such contextual information sheds light on the circumstances leading up to the unfortunate accident, emphasizing the vulnerability of roadside vendors and the importance of ensuring road safety measures are upheld.

He wrote on his x handle;

“A mother and her three children were selling groundnuts by the roadside. A 22-year-old driver lost control of his Mercedes Benz car and ran into mother and children. While the children are responding to treatment, the mother sadly passed on. Think safety!”
