Amotekun Apprehends 14 Alleged Kidnappers and 31 Other Suspects in Ondo State.

The Ondo State Security Network, known as Amotekun, has apprehended a total of 45 suspected criminals within the past two weeks, including 14 individuals suspected of involvement in kidnapping. Chief Adetunji Adeleye, the Commander of the state’s security outfit, disclosed this during a parade of the suspects in Akure on Tuesday, April 10, 2024. According to Adeleye, the arrests were made across all 18 councils areas of the state.

“Among the 45 suspects, we have 14 kidnappers, one dangerous driving, 5 burglary cases, two anti grazing, four destruction of public peace, stealing and buying of stolen goods” he said.

“In the spirit of the festive period, the governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has directed that 28 of them, having been profiled as first time offenders whose offences are not ones with capital punishment.

‘They are to be released to their next of kin for rehabilitation with strict warning not to perpetrate such acts again. The remaining will face the full wrath of the law for committing such crimes because we have profiled them. We have a particular case where we were able to break the kidnap syndicate in Akoko local government.”

“In our effort to bring them out, the kidnapper that already confessed was matcheted by fellow kidnapper in order to cover the crime. The officers of the corps rushed the kidnapper to the hospital and he was treated. He was given useful information. This kidnap syndicate has confessed to several kidnapping activities in Akoko, Kogi and Edo area. We are still looking for their sponsor swho is at large.”
