A former teammate from the French national team has made a stunning allegations, suggesting that Paul Pogba was deceived into consuming the prohibited substance that led to his four-year doping ban. Pogba, the ex-Manchester Unied midfielder, received the santion recently after testing positive for testosterone following a failed drug test in August.
Rio Mavuba, a former former teammate of Pogba in the French national team, has come forward to defend his friend, expressing unwavering belief in Pogba’s sincerity and suggesting the possibility that he might have been deceived.
He said;
” I am in no doubt Paul’s sincerity and i think he may have been somewhats tricked too.”
Mavuba was part of France’s 2014 World Cup squad, where he played alongside pogba, earning a total of 13 caps for Les Bleus.
After his purnishment was confirmed, Pogba continued to assert his innocence, writing: “As a professional athlete i would never do anything to enhance my performance by using banned substance and never disrespected or cheated fellow athletes and supporters of any of the teams i have for, or against,”
He intends to appeal the decision to the highest legal authority in sports, the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
