Olakulehin Selected by Kingmakers As The Next Olubadan

On Friday, the Olubadan-In-Council made a significant decision by nominating Oba Owolabi Olakulehin as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland. This nomination comes after the vacancy arose on Thursday, March 14, 2024, following the passing of Oba Lekan Balogun, who held the throne for two years until his demise at the age of 81.

The kingmakers convened under the leadership of the Otun Oluban of Ibadanland, Chief Rashidi Ladoja, in the capital city of Ibadan, Oyo State. This nomination marks a pivotal movement in the traditional leadership of Ibadanland, signifying the transition to a new era under Oba Olakulehin’s leadership.

The nomination of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin was put forth by the Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Gbadsamosi Adebimpe. Following this nomination, his name is slated to be forwarded to the state governor, Seyi Makinde, for official approval.
