RCCH Pastor and bus passenger kidnapped in Oyo State, some rescued.
Olugbenga Olawore, a pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God, along with other passengers traveling in a 14-seater bus, were abducted in Oyo State. The incident occurred on Friday night at the Maya area of Lanlate-Eruwa Road.
Reports indicate that the cleric and the passengers were returning from Ipapo town, where they were finalizing burial arrangements for Olawore’s mother.
Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the abduction to journalists on Saturday. However, he mentioned that some of the victims had already been rescued.
SP Osifeso stated that law enforcement officers, i. Collaboration with other security agencies and local hunters, have launched an operation in the forest and surrounding areas to rescue the remaining victims and apprehend the perpetrators.
He said “Some of the rescued victims are assisting with useful leads that can help the investigation. All routes around the area, including the adjoining forest areas, are being Combed. Investigation is ongoing, updates would be provided accordingly.”
